Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How and when can I rent a unit?

A: Go to any one of our five (5) Tri-Cities locations and rent from the phone at the gate 24/7. Your call will be answered by one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff members. You can pay with a credit card, check, or money order.

Q: Do you have climate controlled units available?

A: Yes, climate control is available in Bristol, Greeneville, and Johnson City (S. Roan) locations.

Q: Do you supply a lock or do I need to bring my own?

A: 24 Hr. Self Storage does not provide a lock for you, however, we sell the Chateau Silver Disk Lock at the site for $10.00 each or you can bring your own lock. We strongly encourage use of our OR your round disc locks which provide a higher level of security.

Q: Do you have a key to my unit?

A: We do not hold or keep a key to anyone's unit.

Q: How do I pay my monthly bill?

A: You can pay your monthly bill several ways. We can automatically charge your American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa each month. We also accept cash at our office on S. Roan Street or you can mail a check or money order to our office on S. Roan Street. CASH IS ONLY ACCEPTED AT THE OFFICE.

Q: Do I have to sign a contract for a certain period of time or can I rent month to month?

A: You do sign a contract; however, it is on a month to month basis. We do not pro-rate your rent when you move in or out. You can move out whenever you want prior to your contract renewal date.

Q: Is there a discount if I rent long term?

A: If you sign a contract and pre-pay for a year we offer a discount. However, if you move out prior to the end of your year, we do not refund the difference.

Q: Can I cancel my contract at any time?

A: You can cancel your contract anytime prior to your monthly renewal date. All you have to do is remove your lock and all of the contents of your unit. As you leave the facility, call the office from the gate phone and let them know you have vacated your unit. We do not pro-rate your rent when moving in or out of your unit. If a renter "moves out" but leaves the unit locked and we are not notified, then the unit is still locked and charges continue to accrue.

Q: Do you accept packages from UPS and FedEx?

A: We do not accept packages at our facilities. It is your responsibility to make sure your packages are delivered and signed for and not left out in the open.

Q: Do you have video cameras?

A: All facilities are equipped with multiple cameras which are recording at all times.

Q: What type of security do you have?

A: All of our facilities are gated. You will have a unique gate code to enter the facility. Your unit will be secured with your lock. If you have a climate controlled unit, there is a unique door code to get into the climate controlled building, as well as your lock on your unit.

Q: Do I need renters insurance?

A: We strongly encourage all of our tenants to purchase renters insurance. If you are a homeowner or already have renters insurance, all you need to do is call your insurance company. If not, we can provide you with a phone number to a company that specializes in self storage.
